2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />Figure 18.50-1: Monument Sign <br />"Multi -tenant center" means a property or combination of properties containing two or more <br />businesses and which share common parking, driveway and access areas. <br />"Non-commercial sign" means a sign which displays non-commercial speech, e.g., commentary <br />or advocacy on topics of public debate and concern. <br />"Nonconforming sign" means a sign lawfully erected which does not comply with the provisions <br />of this chapter. <br />"On -premise advertising display" means any structure, housing, sign, device, figure, statuary, <br />painting, message placard or other contrivance, or any part thereof, which has been designed, <br />constructed, created, intended or engineered to have a useful life of fifteen years or more and <br />intended or used to advertise or to provide data or information in the nature of advertising for <br />a business or businesses located on the same premises as the sign. <br />"Off -premise advertising display" or "outdoor advertising display" means any structure, housing, <br />sign, device, figure, statuary, painting, message placard or other contrivance, or any part <br />thereof, which has been designed, constructed, created, intended or engineered to have a <br />useful life of fifteen years or more and intended or used to advertise or to provide data or <br />information in the nature of advertising for a business or businesses not located on the same <br />premises as the sign. <br />"Painted sign" means a sign which is comprised only of paint applied on a building or structure. <br />"Permanent window sign" means a sign painted, attached, glued or otherwise affixed to a window <br />or located within three feet of the interior side of the window or otherwise easily visible from <br />the exterior of the building. <br />"Pole sign" means a freestanding sign in excess of six feet in height which is detached from a <br />building and is supported by one or more structural elements that are either a) architecturally <br />dissimilar to the design of the sign, or b) less than 1/4 the width of the sign face. Pole signs <br />less than six feet in height are prohibited. See Figure 18.50-2 (Pole Sign). <br />-5- <br />
