1' <br />2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15' <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />WHEREAS, during his term as Mayor, Tom Bradley focused on a wide range of <br />interests and issues for the citizens of Los Angeles, including attraction of business to Los <br />Angeles, establishment of policies that resulted in the dramatic resurgence of downtown Los <br />Angeles as an economic center, improvements to the city's harbors, airports and railways <br />expanded thriving business operations and enabled Los Angeles to compete successfully in <br />the world market; and <br />WHEREAS, Tom Bradley's colleagues from many cities across the nation, recognized <br />his leadership qualities and in 1974, elected him as President of the National League of <br />Cities; and <br />WHEREAS, in 1979, Tom Bradley was elected to serve a one-year term as President <br />of the League of California Cities; and <br />WHEREAS, in 1998, Tom Bradley died on September 291h at the age of 80 and was <br />mourned by the public, his colleagues and family members; and <br />WHEREAS, Tom Bradley's record of public and professional service has proven to be <br />so exceptional and it is especially fitting that the United States Postal Service issue a special <br />commemorative stamp honoring his legacy as a remarkable person in the history of California <br />and as an American. <br />NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON DOES <br />HEREBY RESOLVE, that the City of Colton supports the League of California Cities Board of <br />Directors recommendation to the Citizens Stamp Advisory Committee of the United States <br />Postal Service for the issuance of a commemorative postal stamp honoring the late and <br />Former Mayor of Los Angeles, Tom Bradley. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution, communicating the City of <br />Colton's support for issuance of a commemorative postal stamp to honor Tom <br />Resolution No - 2 - Council Meeting, November 20, 2007 <br />
