R-107-08 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />COLTON, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE <br />CONVEYANCE OF THAT CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY <br />LOCATED AT THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF SOUTH COOLEY <br />DRIVE AND EAST ASHLEY WAY TO THE REDEVELOPMENT <br />AGENCY FOR THE CITY OF COLTON <br />WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Agency for the City of Colton ("Agency") is a <br />community redevelopment agency duly created, established, and authorized to transact <br />business and exercise its powers, all under and pursuant to the California Community <br />Redevelopment Law (Part 1 of Division 24, commencing with Section 33000 of the Health <br />and Safety Code of the State of California) ("CRL"); and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton ("City") adopted a redevelopment plan <br />("Redevelopment Plan") for the Cooley Ranch Redevelopment Project ("Project Area") on <br />July 29, 1975, pursuant to the provisions of the CRL; and <br />WHEREAS, the City is the owner of that certain real property located within the <br />Project Area generally located at the southeast corner of South Cooley Drive and East Ashley <br />Way and more fully described in Exhibit A attached to this Resolution ("Property"); and <br />WHEREAS, California Government Code Section 37350 provides that the City may <br />purchase, lease, receive, hold, and enjoy real and personal property, and control and dispose <br />of it for the common benefit; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 33220 of the CRL authorizes the City to dedicate, sell, convey <br />or lease any of its property to a redevelopment agency, upon the terms and with or without <br />consideration, as the City determines, for the purpose of aiding and co-operating in the <br />planning, undertaking, construction, or operation of redevelopment projects located within the <br />City; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 33391 of the CRL authorizes the Agency to acquire real property <br />for redevelopment purposes; and <br />WHEREAS, the City desires to convey the Property to the Agency for <br />redevelopment; and <br />WHEREAS, the Agency desires to acquire the Property in order to facilitate the <br />redevelopment of the Property pursuant to and in accordance with the Redevelopment Plan; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the redevelopment of the Property is a public purpose and results in a <br />common benefit to the citizens of the City by facilitating the redevelopment and revitalization <br />of the Property which will contribute to the long-term economic development of the Project <br />Area and the City. <br />
