R-13-09 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF COLTON, CALIFORNIA, SETTING FORTH <br />FINDINGS RELATIVE TO LOCAL CLIMATIC, <br />GEOGRAPHIC AND TOPOGRAPHIC CONDITIONS <br />FOR AMENDMENTS TO THE 2007 CALIFORNIA <br />BUILDING CODE RELATING TO THE <br />RECONSTRUCTION OF BUILDINGS <br />WHEREAS, Health and Safety Code Sections 17958 et seq. authorize the <br />City of Colton ("City") to amend or modify the California Building Code when <br />reasonably necessary because of local climatic, geological or topographical conditions; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Health and Safety Code Section 17958.7 requires that, before <br />making any such modifications or changes, the governing body of the City must make <br />an express finding that such amendments are reasonably necessary because of local <br />climatic, geological or topographical conditions; and <br />WHEREAS, the City has prepared an Ordinance which amends the <br />California Building Code to provide expeditious repair and restoration of damaged or <br />unsafe structures ("Modifications'). <br />WHEREAS, such Modifications are also necessary in order for the City to <br />receive proper assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency ("FEMA") <br />in the event of a disaster. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1. Findings. The City Council of the City of Colton hereby <br />expressly finds that the Modifications, as contained in the Ordinance relating to the <br />repair and restoration of damaged or unsafe buildings, are reasonably necessary for the <br />following local climatic, geological or topographical conditions: <br />1. Within the City of Colton, there are at least two (2) earthquake fault <br />lines (San Jacinto and Rialto -Colton). Two (2) additional fault lines (San Andreas and <br />-1- <br />
