Add language to the requirements previously contained in Article II — Compensation <br />Section 7: Acting Pay of the expired Memorandum of Understanding to read as follows: <br />Duration of assignment not to exceed one calendar year except with written <br />agreement between employee and Department Head may extend additional <br />6 months. Employees in a probationary status shall not be eligible to be <br />assigned to acting assignments. <br />F. Change the policy/language regarding shop stewards as follows: <br />Employees who have appointed as shop stewards by the union/association <br />must be identified to the Human Resources Director. <br />TIME -OFF FOR MEETING AND CONFERRING. The City shall provide <br />reasonable time off to a reasonable number, not to exceed four (4) duly <br />authorized Union representatives for the purpose of meeting and conferring <br />with City representatives. <br />However, in no case shall more than two (2) employees from any one <br />division be simultaneously present at meet and confer sessions. The Union <br />shall provide the City with a list of said authorized personnel at the <br />beginning of the election year. Any release from duty for said purpose shall <br />have prior approval of the Department Head. No Union representative shall <br />be compensated by payment of overtime for participation in any meet and <br />confer session. Such designated Union representatives shall be released for <br />engaging in the meet and confer process one (1) hour before the scheduled <br />time for commencement of the meeting and shall return to the performance <br />of their duties not later than one (1) hour after conclusion of the meet and <br />confer session. <br />Shop stewards are also permitted to be released from work if they received <br />permission from their supervisor for the purpose of representing a member <br />in the processing of (discussing, planning, preparing and participating in <br />meetings with City representatives) grievances. Only one shop steward is <br />permitted to participate in one of these types of meetings. <br />If a union representative (including a shop steward) wants to meet with <br />members of the union for any other purpose, such meeting must take place <br />during off duty hours or while the employee (and if the representative is an <br />employee, the representative him/herself) is on his/her lunch break. <br />G. Add a policy outlining value of uniforms, as statutorily required by Ca1PERS to read as <br />follows: <br />The monetary value for the rental, purchase, and maintenance of the <br />uniforms provided shall be reported to Ca1PERS as compensation. <br />
