1 <br />2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />ORDINANCE NO. 0-03-18 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF COLTON AMENDING SECTION 2.30.030 OF THE <br />COLTON MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE <br />APPOINTMENT PROCEDURES FOR CITY <br />COMMISSIONS AND COMMITTEES <br />WHEREAS, Section 2.30.030 of the Colton Municipal Code describes the procedures for <br />appointment of persons to serve on City Commissions and Committees and provides the guidance <br />for the selection of members; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Colton, in accordance with California <br />Government Code, Section 54974 (Maddy Act) desires to provide flexibility in appointment of <br />members to City boards and commissions; and <br />WHEREAS, the amendments proposed to Section 2.30.030 to provide additional <br />flexibility and are consistent with the requirements of the Maddy Act; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Colton, California, does ordain as <br />follows: <br />SECTION 1. Incorporation of Recitals. The City Council hereby finds that all of the <br />foregoing recitals presented herewith are true and correct and are hereby incorporated and adopted <br />as findings of the City Council. <br />SECTION 2. Section 2.30.030 of the Colton Municipal Code is hereby amended to read <br />as follows: <br />"2.30.030 - Manner of appointment. <br />It Shall be the responsibility of each member of the City Council to nominate one individual to <br />serve on each of the various City Commissions and Committees within the City subject to <br />ratification by a majority vote of the City Council. In the event that a member of the City Council <br />Shall fail to make any nomination within thirty Days of the date of his or her being sworn into <br />office or within sixty Days of the occurrence of a Vacancy, any other member of the City Council <br />wishing to nominate a Person to that position May do so, subject to ratification by majority vote <br />of the City Council. The City Clerk Shall post and publish a Notice to all interested Persons <br />indicating open or Vacant Commission and Committee positions not earlier than 20 days before <br />or not later than 20 days after the vacancy occurs. a4 least ten Days prier to ", appeiR�Ment by <br />roune�e . Final appointment to a Commission shall not be made for at least 10 working <br />days after the posting of the notice in the City Clerk's office. <br />Notwithstanding this section, the City Council may, if it finds that an emergency exists, fill an <br />unscheduled vacancy immediately. A person appointed to fill the vacancy shall serve only <br />
