No individual Shall serve <br />on more than one Commission or Committee. Although each member of the City Council elected <br />by a District Shall Use his or her best efforts to appoint individuals residing in that District to <br />Commissions and Committees, members of the City Council May appoint individuals not <br />residing in their Districts in their discretion in order to assure that the most interested and <br />qualified individuals serve on the various Committees and Commissions within the City. <br />Individuals nominated by the Mayor to serve on a Commission or Committee Shall represent the <br />City at large on that Commission or Committee, and May reside anywhere in the City. <br />SECTION 3. Severability. If any section, subsection, subdivision, sentence, clause, <br />phrase, or portion of this Ordinance for any reason is held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the <br />decision of any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the <br />remaining portions of this Ordinance. The City Council hereby declares that it would have <br />adopted this Ordinance, and each section, subsection, subdivision, sentence, clause, phrase, or <br />portion thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or more sections, subsections, subdivisions, <br />sentences, clauses, phrases, or portions thereof be declared invalid or unconstitutional. <br />SECTION 4. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days <br />after its adoption. <br />SECTION 5. Publication. The City Clerk shall certify the passage of this Ordinance and <br />shall cause the same to be entered in the book of original ordinances of said City; shall make a <br />minute passage and adoption thereof in the records of the meeting at which time the same is <br />passed and adopted; and shall, within fifteen (15) days after the passage and adoption thereof, <br />cause the same to be published as required by law, in a local newspaper of general circulation and <br />which is hereby designated for that purpose. <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 6`h day of February, 2018. <br />ATTEST: <br />CAROLINA R.
