2017 SEPTEMBER 19 CC/SARDA/CUA/CPFA/CHA MEETING 3 - <br /> Presentation - Colton Voted #1 “Best City to Live In” presentation by Allison King <br />The City of Colton was recognized in the Best of the Inland Empire 2017; featured in the Sunday edition of the <br />Press Enterprise dated September 10, 2017. <br /> <br />Allison King, Multi-Media Account Executive for Southern California News Group (The Press Enterprise) <br />presented a certificate entitled; ‘22nd Annual, Best of I.E. (Inland Empire), Best City to Live, City of Colton; In <br />acknowledgement by the readers of the Press Enterprise’; accepted by Mayor DeLaRosa. <br /> <br />Additional recognitions were presented by Assemblymember Eloise Gomez-Reyes, District 47; and Michael A. <br />Townsend, representing Senator Connie Leyva. <br /> <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL ITEMS <br /> <br />POSSIBLE CONFLICT OF INTEREST DISCLOSURES FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF SEPTEMBER <br />19, 2017. <br /> <br />GIFT DISCLOSURES <br />Mayor DeLaRosa asked the members present if there were any agenda items that were a conflict of interest <br />pursuant to CMC Section 2.04.030. None disclosed. <br /> <br />AB 1234 ORAL REPORTS <br />Mayor DeLaRosa asked the members present if there were any brief reports on meetings attended at the <br />expense of the City. (GC Section 53232.3(d). None disclosed. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />The following community members addressed the Council: Alex Peralta, Nellie Cortez, and Tina Colunga. <br /> <br />Mayor DeLaRosa requested of Councilmembers present to bring Item 20 forward for discussion and action; no <br />opposition. <br /> <br />(20) Solid Waste Collection Service Rate Increases <br /> <br />TIME AND PLACE FIXED TO CONSIDER A PUBLIC HEARING TO ON CR&R’s REQUEST FOR <br />AN INCREASE IN THEIR MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE (MSW) CHARGES FOR VARIOUS <br />CUSTOMER CLASSES AND EITHER APPROVE, MODIFY OR DISAPPROVE THE REQUESTED <br />RATE INCREASES. <br /> <br />Mayor DeLaRosa declared the Public Hearing Open. <br /> <br />City Clerk Padilla submitted the Notice of Continuation (on file in the City Clerk’s Office) and announced receipt of <br />(66) letters of protests thereto. <br /> <br />Council Comments <br />Mayor DeLaRosa made appropriate comments regarding the Public Hearing subject matter; in order to allow <br />transparency he believed a workshop presentation would be appropriate; and after tonight’s presentation will <br />ask for a consensus to continue the item for discussion and action; asked staff to determine a date for a <br />workshop in order to allow all interested parties to attend. <br /> <br />Mayor DeLaRosa asked CR&R representative if they wish to make a presentation this evening or wait until the <br />workshop; CR&R announced they would make their presentation at this time and again at the workshop. <br />
