R-27-15 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF COLTON TO APPROVE AND ACCEPT AN <br />AWARDED DEMONSTRATION OF ENERGY & <br />EFFICIENCY DEVELOPMENT (DEED) SCHOLARSHIP <br />FROM THE AMERICAN PUBLIC POWER <br />ASSOCIATION (APPA) <br />WHEREAS; APPA established the DEED program with the purpose to sponsor and <br />conduct activities related to energy innovation, which would assist local publicly owned <br />utilities in maintaining high quality and economical energy services to their consumers; and <br />WHEREAS, The Colton Electric Departments (CED) student intern, submitted an <br />internship proposal through APPA's competitive grant process for an approved project by <br />CED; and <br />WHEREAS, The DEED Board of Directors found the proposed internship to be <br />meritorious and worth of a DEED scholarship; and <br />WHEREAS, The CED intern was notified award of the grant upon completion of the <br />internship; and <br />WHEREAS, The awarded funding will be disbursed to the CED to the student in the <br />following schedule of $1000 paid when the scholarship contract agreement is executed, $1500 <br />will be paid upon satisfactory completion of the internship and receipt of the final deliverables; <br />and: <br />WHEREAS, DEED includes a maximum $1000 for travel expenses for the intern to <br />attend an APPA conference or APPA approved conference within 12 months of the student <br />completing the internship. <br />
