Insurance. The payment of any insurance premiums or claims, including <br />employee medical payments. <br />J. Real Property. The purchase or lease of real property with City Council <br />approval. <br />K. Banking. Banking services. <br />L. Otherwise Authorized. When otherwise authorized by this chapter or <br />applicable law." <br />SECTION 3: Section 6.16.025 of Chapter 6.16 of Title 6 of the Colton <br />Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />"6.16.025 — Award of approval for solid waste services. <br />The City Council may provide for the collection, removal and disposal of solid waste <br />within the City by means of exclusive or nonexclusive franchise, contract, license, permit, or <br />otherwise. The City shall award such franchise, contract, license, permit, or otherwise <br />pursuant to the procedures applicable to professional services under section 3.08.070. The <br />authority to provide solid waste handling services may be granted under terms and conditions <br />prescribed by the City Council by resolution or ordinance." <br />SECTION 4: Severability. If any section, subsection, subdivision, paragraph, <br />sentence, clause or phrase of this Ordinance or any part thereof is for any reason held to <br />unconstitutional, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion of this <br />ordinance or any part thereof. The City Council of the City of Colton hereby declares that it <br />would have passed each section, subsection, subdivision, paragraph, sentence, clause or <br />phrase thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or more section, subsection, subdivision, <br />paragraph, sentence, clause or phrases be declared unconstitutional. <br />SECTION 5: This ordinance shall take force and effect thirty (30) after its <br />adoption. This ordinance shall apply prospectively only and shall not affect any previous <br />contract or franchise award. <br />-3- <br />
