CITY COUNCIL AND CEMETERY COMMISSION
ADJOURNED JOINT REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
January 4, 1994
In accordance with notice duly and legally given, an Adjourned
Joint Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Colton and
the Cemetery Commission for the City of Colton was held on the
above given date at 5:30 P. M. in the Council Chambers of City
Hall, 650 North La Cadena Drive, Mayor Gonzales and Chairperson
Hayden presiding.
CITY COUNCIL ROLL CALL:
Councilmembers present were Bennett, Sandoval, Cisneros, Cook,
Beltran and Mayor Gonzales. Also present were City Manager Young,
City Attorney Biggs and City Clerk Ramos. Absent was Councilmember
Rios.
CEMETERY COMMISSION ROLL CALL:
Members present were Evans, Hemminger, Parker and Chairperson
Hayden. Also present were Cemetery Manager Ramos and Family
Service Counselor Sainz. Absent were Members Arrieta, Mosher and
Dylina.
JOINT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON AND THE
CEMETERY COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF COLTON.
Cemetery Manager Ramos expounded on her agenda report by adding
that since its inception in 1877, Hermosa Cemetery, designated an
enterprise, has never been profitable until 1990-1991 when it
earned $12,000. She identified the Cemetery's purpose as public
service and public care. She believed that the Cemetery provided
a return to the community as well as providing a livelihood for its
employees. At Hermosa Cemetery, there have been cemetery
caretakers but not cemeterians who, in addition to maintaining
grounds, develop the Cemetery business. Consequently, Hermosa
cemetery is now in dire need of retrofitting and financial help.
At 5:42 P. M., Cemetery Commission Member Dylina is present.
Councilmember Beltran leaves the dais momentarily with Mayor
Gonzales' knowledge.
At 5:44 P. M. Councilmembers Rios and Beltran are present at the
dais.
JAN 0 4 1994
