COUNCIL MEETING JANUARY 21, 1997 A Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Colton was held on the above given date at 6:17 p.m., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, Mayor Gaytan presiding. FLAG SALUTE: Mayor Gaytan led the assembly in the pledge of allegiance. INVOCATION: Invocation was offered by Father McNally. ROLL CALL: Councilmembers present were Bennett, Cook, Chastain, Hutton, Sanders, and Mayor Gaytan. Also present were City Manager Freeman, City Attorney Biggs and City Clerk Barrera. Councilmember Sandoval absent due to illness. PUBLIC COMMENT: Fred Cordova, Colton resident, commented regarding Council action authorizing payment of legal fees for Abe Beltran. He requested that action be taken to remove the empty newspaper bins located throughout the City that are no long being used and referred to the bins located in front of Mc Donald's. Jack Morenberg, Police Officer's Association representative, spoke against Item 8 under Consent Calendar, the classification and compensation study. AGENDA REVIEW: At the request of Mayor Gaytan, Motion/second by Cook/CM Hutton to add as Item 16 to the Agenda, regarding revision of the Inland Valley Development Agency (IVDA) Joint Exercise Powers of Agreement, as there is a need to take immediate action and is a late - breaking item, pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2(b) (2), and the matter arose subsequent to the posting of the Agenda, pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2(a). Discussion followed and Council was in agreement to add item allowing for a 15 minute recess to be taken for review of the item before any action is taken. Motion amended and carried with CM Sandoval absent. As requested, Items 2, 8 and 9 were pulled for discussion. Item No. 1
