ROGERS ELEM. <br />SCHOOL AND LYTLE CREEK (HILLCREST AVENUE) <br />CHANNEL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT. <br />DATE: SEPTEMBER 8, 2008 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Dr. Paul J. Rogers Elementary School Improvement Proiect / Laurel Street Improvement Proiect <br />Dr. Paul Rogers Elementary School is located at 955 W. Laurel Street in northwest Colton, adjacent <br />to Elizabeth Davis Park. In October of 2005, the City of Colton submitted a grant proposal for <br />improvements to Dr. Paul J. Rogers Elementary School that would minimize unsafe paths to school <br />for the children and their parents. On November 1, 2005, the County of San Bernardino Board of <br />Supervisors awarded the City of Colton $500,000 for the improvements at Dr. Paul Rogers <br />Elementary School. The Agreement with the County for this Grant was accepted and approved by <br />the City Council on July 18, 2006. Of the awarded amount, $300,000 was earmarked for installation <br />of missing curb, gutter, sidewalk, and handicap ramps. <br />The scope of work correspondent to the Laurel Street Improvement Project included installation of: <br />missing concrete curb, gutter, sidewalk, drive approach, and handicap ramps. The project limits are <br />as follows: <br />Laurel Street <br />— Teresa Avenue to Rancho Avenue. <br />Latham Street <br />— Laurel Street to Long Beach Drive. <br />Grand Avenue <br />— Stevenson Street to Long Beach Drive. <br />Tejon Avenue <br />— Laurel Street to cul-de-sac. <br />Lytle Creek Beautification Project/Lytle Creek Channel Improvement Project <br />The Lytle Creek Beautification Improvement Project is located along Hillcrest Avenue (east of Mt. <br />Vernon Avenue) on both sides of the channel. The scope of work included installation of: missing <br />concrete curb, gutter, sidewalk, drive approach, handicap ramp, irrigation lines and landscaping. <br />7/10/03 City Clerk's Office Cb <br />
