ITEM #4 CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF JUNE 16, 2009 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS FROM: Bill Smith — Community Services Director SUBJECT: Recommend Adoption of Resolution Approving Latchkey Contract Amendment with the State Department of Education for Fiscal Year 2008-09 and Authorization for City Manager to Sign Contract Documents DATE: June 2, 2009 BACKGROUND: The City of Colton's Latchkey Childcare Program is partially funded by a grant from the State of California, Department of Education. The State of California has notified the City of an amendment to the current Latchkey contract for 2008-09, specifically in the "Funding Terms and Conditions" portion of the contract. DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: The "Funding Terms and Conditions" language has been amended, effective July 1, 2008 by the State Department of Education. Each contractor must adhere to any changes or requirements incorporated into the contract, in addition to all other applicable laws and regulations. A copy of "Amendment 01" to the Latchkey contract, CLTK-8067, is attached, with proposed changes noted, for reference. The changes relate to determining participant eligibility and required documentation, and are not expected to significantly impact services to our customers. FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact to this proposed contract amendment. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: None CONFLICT OF INTEREST: None RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that City Council adopt RESOLUTION R- , approving the State of California Amendment Contract CLTK-8067 for the Childcare Division of the Community Services Department, for the fiscal year 2008-09.
