ITEM #11 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF AUGUST 4, 2009 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: MARITZA TAPIA, INTERIM PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: AUTHORIZE JOINT SOLICITATION OF BIDS FOR (1) VARIOUS <br />CDBG PROJECTS AND (2) LITTON AVE./BOSTICK AVE. <br />STREET IMPROVEMENT PROJECT. <br />DATE: <br />BACKGROUND: <br />JULY 9, 2009 <br />CDBG Project: <br />Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds are allocated to cities by the Federal Housing and <br />Urban Development Department (HUD) each year and administered through the County of San Bernardino <br />Community Development and Housing Department (CDH). Participating cities like Colton utilize the <br />funding to provide: housing, economic, social service, and community development opportunities. <br />CDBG Projects <br />CDBG Projects identified in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2009-10 CIP (Capital Improvement Program) and <br />scheduled for construction during FY 2009-2010 are as follows: <br />• CDBG Project #104-34105/3169 —2nd <br />St., lOd' St., E St., L St., and M St. <br />• CDBG Project #104-34205/3170 —A Ct. <br />• CDBG Project #104-34305/3171— Alley Improvement <br />• CDBG Project #104-34405/3172 —Virginia Drive (Citrus to Johnston St.), Holly Ave. <br />• CDBG Project #104-34505/3173 — S. La Cadena Dr. (Fogg St. to Rancho Ave.) <br />• CDBG Project # 104-35605-3270 — Alley Improvement <br />Improvements provided by this project will include installation of: missing sidewalk, curb, gutter and <br />handicap ramps, asphalt paving of six (6) alleys. The project limits for each project are shown on the attached <br />map (Exhibit A) and project plans (Exhibit B). <br />Litton Avenue/ Bostick Avenue project: <br />Litton Avenue/ Bostick Avenue Street Improvement Project is identified in the CIP (Capital Improvement <br />Program) and scheduled for construction during fiscal year 2009-2010. Improvements provided by this <br />project will include installation of concrete curb, gutter, sidewalk, drive approach and handicap ramps, and <br />asphalt paving.
