LA CADENA
DRIVE SSADTIFICATION PROJECT PHASB 1.
As one of the City of Colton's Capital Improvement project goals, the
beautification of the S. La Cadena Drive corridor from interstate 10 to the
I-215 (91) freeways was initiated.
The project was separated into three phases, "for the estimated 1.7 million
dollar project" as local Capital Improvements funds for Public Works Projects
were dwindling due to severe cut backs in available state tax revenue funds.
Recognizing the necessity to seek and acquire other funding sources, city
staff was successful in obtaining three sources of state and federal funds
for the proposed three phases of the project.
Phase 1. Estimated at approximately $700,000. has received funds for
its construction by means of Community Development block grant
monies and City/County Host City Mitigation fees. (Exhibit A
& B)
Phases 2& 3 Have recently received an approval for funding under the
states transportation improvement program. (Exhibit C)
The necessity for phasing the project was due to:
(a) availability of funding first by C.D.B.G. and City/County
Host City Mitigation fees, and
(b) States Transportation funds later becoming available, but
also being a more structure funding source as to
fundable improvements.
