Co
AGENDA REPORT
CITY OF COLTON
For City Council Meeting of
May 6, 1997
September 30, 1997
TO: MAYOR GAYTAN, CITY COUNCIL AND CITY MANAGER
FROM: Julie Hayward `
y Biggs, .City Attorney
SUBMCT: Moratorium/Monopo 4
-
As directed by the City Council, attached is an Interim Urgency Ordinance
establishing a moratorium on the processing of applications for and the approval of construction
of new "monopoles" within the City of Colton. As you may recall, these monopoles are free-
standing structures, usually in excess of 35 feet in height that are used for airwave transmission
associated with cellular telephone systems. Currently, the City has no regulations in place
regarding these devices, and the Community Development Department would like time to study
newly proposed uniform ordinances that might be adopted by the City so that there will not be
an undue, and irrevocable proliferation of these structures.
The Interim Urgency Ordinance will be in effect, if adopted, for 45 days and may
be renewed thereafter for up to a maximum of two years.
Concurrence:
Len Wood, Interim City Manager
Item # 25
