HUTTON, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: AWARD OF CONTRACT - LOWEST RESPONSIBLE BIDDER - CFD 89-1 COOLEY <br />DRIVE AND WASHINGTON STREET LANDSCAPE MEDIANS PROJECT <br />DATE: MARCH 23, 1998 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Bid Opening for the CFD 89-1 Cooley Drive and Washington Street Medians Project was held on <br />February 10, 1998. Six (6) Bidders submitted Bid Proposals: <br />Engineer's Estimate = $49,600 excluding Stamped Concrete and Water Connection & Capital Improvement <br />Fees. Bid Proposals were reviewed and Sean Malek Engineering & Construction, Inc. was recommended as <br />the Lowest Responsible Bidder with a Total Bid Amount of $45,841.00. See attached Exhibit OA" <br />This recommendation was presented to the CFD Commission at their regularly scheduled meeting of March <br />3, 1998. The recommendation was approved unanimously. See attached Exhibit "B" <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />This project is funded by the CFD 89-1 Assessment District. The original amount allotted for this project was <br />$45,000 for the Cooley Drive Landscape Medians only. At a later date, an additional $10,000 was added to <br />the project by the CFD Commission to cover the addition of the Washington Street Median into the project for <br />a total allocation of $55,000. <br />This amount has been reduced by the following expenditures: <br />Advertising of NOTICE INVITING BIDS $ 1,198.69 <br />H.R.
