TO CARPET HOUSE W THE AMOUNT OF $11,672 <br />DATE: APRIL 13, 1998 <br />BACKGROUND <br />On March 16 & April 2, 1998, Purchasing advertised for sealed bids to fumish and install carpet and tile in the <br />Police Dept. Staff �Is� mailed the "Notice Inviting Bids" to nine vendors. On April 1, 1998, a pre-bid <br />conference and walk through was held at the Police Dept. Three vendors attended the walk through. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALY5IS <br />Bid opening was held at 2:30 p.m., April 8, 1998, in the City Hall Conference Room. One bid was received <br />from Carpet House a Division of Inland Empire Carpet, Inc. The bid amount is $11,672 to furnish and install <br />carpet and tile in th� Police Department. This amount also includes moving the furniture. The City's <br />Purchasing Ordinance provides for the Council to award a contract when only a single bid is received. The bid <br />received from Carpet House is within the budget approved by Council for this project. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />None <br />FINANCIAL IMPA�T <br />At the Council Meeting of February 3, 1998, the City Council appropriated $15,000 from evidence monies to <br />the Police Department for replacement of the building's carpet and tile. The funds are available in account <br />100-6070-6080-2250. <br />ENVIRQNMENTAL IMPACT <br />None <br />RECOMMENDATIpN <br />Staff recommends Council award a contract for the installation of carpet and tile in the Police Department to <br />Carpet House in the amount of $11,672. <br />Report prepared by Mary J.
