CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
Council Meeting of July 21, 1998
TO: Honorable Mayor and Council Members
APPROVAL: Henry T. Garcia, City Manage
FROM: Daryl J. Parrish, Assistant City Manager
SUBJECT: Extension of Professional Services Agreement with the Arrowhead
Management Group (for improvements surrounding the Arrowhead
Regional Medical Center) in the Amount of $41,232.85.
DATE: July 9, 1998
BACKGROUND:
On August 6, 1996, the City of Colton awarded a contract to the Arrowhead
Management Group for Design Engineering and Construction Management for Street,
Storm Drain, Intersection, and Landscaping Improvements surrounding the Arrowhead
Regional Medical Center, (the "Contract"). At the time the Contract was awarded, our
best estimation was that the aforementioned improvements were to have been
substantially completed by the middle of February. The termination date specified in the
Contract was May 31, 1998. On March 3, 1998, the first extension to the Contract was
made to extend it through June 30, 1998.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
Arrowhead Management Group has requested an extension of the Contract in order to
continue uninterrupted project services to close the Medical Center off-site
improvement project. This request includes the Arrowhead Management Group
extension request in concert with requests for additional compensation for sub -
consultants ASL Consulting Engineers and Calwest Geotechnical Consultants for work
completed.
Arrowhead Management Group
The timeframe specified in the Aman Environmental Construction contract is two
hundred and one (201) calendar days. As a result of sundry delays in the contractor
completing closeout work required by the contract, an extra fifteen working days was
needed. This equates to approximately $7000 in project management fees, which
must be added to the Arrowhead Management Group Contract.
ASL Consulting Engineers
Extra survey work was required primarily due to owner added construction and
additional work required as a result of the close proximity of the 108 inch storm drain
installed during this project with an existing underground electrical line. Of the total
$31,395.25 requested, $15,545.00 will be deducted from the contractor's final payment.
Item # 18
