CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF JUNE 2,1998 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor & City Council <br />APPROVAL: Henry Garcia, City Manage <br />t. -I/ <br />FROM: Tom Hendrix, Acting Fire Chief <br />SUBJECT: Request for recruitment and ratification of employee <br />appointment in the full time position of Fire Captain in the <br />Fire Department. <br />DATE: May 26, 1998 <br />BACKGROUND: There is one (1) vacant. Fire Captain position in the Fire <br />Department. Attached is the job description of the classification; the salary range is $3362 <br />- $4088 per month. <br />DISCUSSION / ANALYSIS: Recruitment for said position will be conducted and an <br />eligibility list established upon Council approval. The candidate chosen will meet the <br />education and experience requirements as specified in the job description. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding availability for this approved general fund position in <br />the fiscal year 97/98 budget funded as follows: Account'_ Nov 100-6090-6091-1010 <br />$49,044 and Account No. 100-6090-6091-1100 ($19,511). <br />Tom Hendrix, Acting Fire Chief <br />EXPECTED FILL DATE: July 13, 1998 <br />CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT: To ensure that the lives and property of Colton's <br />citizens receive a high level of protection, all emergency situations should be supervised <br />by personnel who have proven that they have the training and experience necessary to <br />fulfill this responsibility. <br />RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council approve the recruitment and ratification <br />of the employee appointment to the full-time position of Fire Captain as recommended by <br />the (Acting) Fire' Chief. - <br />Attachment: Job Description <br />Item # 19 <br />
