HUTTON, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />SUBJECT: PUBLIC HEARING TO DETERMINE ANY PROTESTS OR <br />OBJECTIONS TO THE VACATION OF A PORTION OF <br />THE INTERSECTION OF 6T" AND "K" STREETS <br />DATE: AUGUST 4, 1998 <br />BACKGROUND: On July 7, 1998 the City Council set August 4, 1998 as the <br />date to hear any objections or protests for the vacation of a portion of the <br />intersection of 6" and "K" Streets, as requested by the Union Pacific Railroad. <br />The City Council had taken previous action on this item on November 4" 1997, <br />when at such time the City Council granted approval of an appeal by Union <br />Pacific Railroad of the Planning Commissions denial of the request on October <br />14, 1997. <br />DISCUSSIONIANALYSIS: As the City Council has in effect approved the appeal <br />made by the Union Pacific Railroad of the October 14, 1997 Planning <br />Commission denial, this process is then only required to meet The Street and <br />Highway Code Requirement for a Public Hearing on a proposed street vacation. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. <br />RECOMMENDATION: At the close of the Public Hearing the City Council may <br />take such action as appropriate by either approving the Resolution to <br />vacate said street intersection therefore confirming the prior appeal by Union <br />Pacific Railroad or electing not to approve said Resolution vacating said <br />intersection. <br />item 4 1 <br />
