CLARKE, UTILITY DIRECTOR4-:1-1 <br />SUBJECT: APPROVE REQUEST FOR RECRUITMENT AND RATIFICATION OF <br />EMPLOYEE APPOINTMENTS TO THE FULL TIME POSITION OF WATER <br />MAINTENANCE WORKER 11 AND STORMWATER MAINTENANCE <br />WORKER 11 IN THE UTILITY DEPARTMENT <br />DATE: AUGUST 3,1999 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />In the FY99-00 Utility Department's Budget, there are six (6) Maintenance Worker 1/11 positions. <br />Currently there are two vacancies: one in the Water Department; and, one in the Stormwater <br />Department. Attached is the job description of the classification; the salary range is $1,928 to <br />$2,345 per month. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Recruitment for said positions needs to be conducted and an eligibility list established. The <br />candidates chosen will meet the education and experience requirements as specified in the job <br />description. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Funding availability for this position is contained in the Enterprise Fund of the FY99-00 Water <br />Budget as follows: Account No. 521-8100-8101-1010 (salary) and Account No. 521-8100-8101- <br />1100 (salary related benefits); and in the FY99-00 Stormwater Budget as follows: Account No. <br />722-8200-8215-1010 (salary) and Account No. 722-8200-8215-1100 (salary related benefits) <br />EXPECTED FILL DATE: <br />October 4, 1999. <br />CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT: <br />The Water Division's position will be responsible for the maintenance, repairs and upkeep of the <br />Water System. The Stormwater Division's position will be responsible for storm drain <br />maintenance.
