CLARKE, UTILITY DIRECTO ��/ <br />AWARD OF WELL NO. 26 EQUIPPING TO PACIFIC HYDROTECH <br />CORP., IN THE AMOUNT OF $507,600 <br />MAY 25, 1999 <br />BAI�KGROUND: <br />The FY98-99 Water Capital Improvements included funds for the equipping of Well No. <br />26. The project is a production capability requirement of the State of Califomia, <br />Department of Health Services, due to the age and declining production of several City <br />wells. Therefore, the project is on a fast track in order to complete the new well by July <br />20, 1999. However, the bidding process is still in accordance with State and City <br />requirements. <br />DI�CUSSION: <br />Ort May 25, 1999 staff received and opened five bids for the equipping of Well No. 26. <br />The equipping of the well includes one 300 Horsepower motor, electrical switch gear and <br />telemetry equipment, bowls to lift the water to the surface, 600 feet of well shaft and a <br />building to house the well and equipment. The lower bidder made a substantial omission <br />in Mis bid, and at his request, staff allowed him to withdraw his bid. The results of the <br />remaining four qualified bidders are as follows: <br />1. Pacific Hyrdrotech Corp. <br />2. Schuler Engineering Corp. <br />3. Hemet Manufacturing Co. <br />4. Caliagua, Inc. <br />$507,600 <br />$523,072 <br />$549,000 <br />$573,450 <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Partial funding for the equipping of Well No. 26 is budgeted in the Water Development— <br />New Wells Account No. 551-8100.8105-3890 ($344,227) with the remaining contract <br />amount ($163,373) being allocated from the recent bond proceeds. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that Council award the Well No. 26 Equipping Contract to Pacific <br />Hydrotech Corp., in the bid amount of $507,600. <br />Report Prepared By: Lorraine June <br />Page 1 of 1 Item # 13 <br />
