Hugh Margesson, Childcare Director <br />SUBJECT: Approval of Cost of Living Increase for State Latchkey Contract <br />DATE: March 18, 2003 <br />Item #6 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Colton's Early Childhood Education Latchkey program is funded by a grant through the State of <br />California's Department of Education for FY 2002/2003 in the amount of $415,643. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />The State has granted a cost of living increase for the Latchkey grant in the amount of $8,313. <br />The revised budget will be $423,956. The additional funds will cover increases in related costs <br />since July 1, 2002. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />The Latchkey program is funded entirely by a grant from the State of California Department of <br />Education. The net financial impact to the City and the Latchkey program is positive. The <br />Latchkey revenue account (206-5776) will increase by $8,313. Expense account 206-7200- <br />7202-2301-0300 would increase by $2,000 206-7200-7202-2320 would increase by $3,000 206- <br />7200-7202-2350 would increase by $2,313 and 206-7200-7202-2420 would increase by $1,000. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that City Council approve the cost of living increase with resolution for the FY <br />2002/2003 Latchkey contract.
