FRASER, DIRECTOR OF WATER & WASTEWATER OPERATIONS <br />Award of FY03-04 and FY04-05 Bio -Solids Hauling Contract to <br />in the Amount of *$_/Ton <br />July 28, 2003 <br />Item #18 <br />BACKGROUND <br />The FY03-04 and FY04-05 Wastewater Budgets included funds for the hauling and disposal of bio -solids <br />(wastewater sludge) from the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The existing sludge hauling contract for the <br />Wastewater Treatment Plant expired on June 30, 2002. <br />DISCUSSION /ANALYSIS <br />The CUA has solicited bids for the FY03-04 sludge hauling contract for the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Bid <br />opening will occur on August 4, 2003 at 10:30 A.M. *A supplemental staff report with the bid analysis will be <br />issued following bid opening for CUA consideration. Under the terms of the contract, the City, at the <br />recommendation of the Director of Water and Wastewater, may renew the contract for one additional year <br />(FY04-05). <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />Sufficient funds are available in the Wastewater Professional Services Account 522-8200-8200-2350 for <br />sludge hauling. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />The State of California and County of San Bernardino govern the environmental manner in which bio -solids <br />are disposed.
