Hugh Margesson, Childcare Director <br />SUBJECT: Approval of Increased Appropriations for Cost of Living Increases <br />Pre -School Contract for Childcare <br />DATE: February 6, 2003 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The City of Colton's Pre -School program, located at the Sierra Vista Baptist Church, is funded <br />by a grant from the State of California's Department of Education for FY 2002/2003 in the <br />amount of $147,896. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />The State recently notified the City of a cost of living increase for the existing grant in the <br />amount of $2,958. The Child Care Division's Pre -School budget, with the new cost of living <br />increase, will now total $150,854. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />The Pre -School program is funded entirely by the State grant. The total financial impact due to <br />the cost of living increase is positive. The Pre -School program's revenue account (206-5776) <br />will increase by $2,958. Expense accounts 206-7200-7203-2301 and 206-7200-7203-2250 will <br />each increase by $1,000. Account 206-7200-7203-2410 will increase by $958.00. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that City Council approve a cost of living increase for the Colton Child Care <br />Pre -School Contract and authorize the City Manager to sign the Cost of Living Contract GPRE- <br />2283. <br />Attachment RESOLUTION NO.
