Item #10 CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF October 7, 2003 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council FROM: Ron Kenny — Community Services Director 96 - SUBJECT: Request for Approval to Enter into Lease Agreement of Vehicle for Mobile Recreation Program DATE: September 16, 2003 BACKGROUND: The Community Services Department is preparing to begin a Mobile Recreation Program. This program will provide department services to Colton residents who would not otherwise have access to city parks or programs. In order to begin this program, procurement of a vehicle is essential. Staff, Mayor Pro Tem Kelly Chastain and Council Member Ramon Hernandez have met with Glenn Moss, of Moss Bros. Ford, and Mr. Moss has graciously agreed to donate a panel truck to the City for use with this program. He has requested that the City lease the vehicle, and an agreement will be tendered whereby Moss Bros. Ford will make the lease payments to the lease company. DISC USSION/ANALYSIS: Mobile Recreation has the potential to positively impact Colton's residents through taking essential services to those who cannot come to City facilities for those programs. The Community Services Department will work with the Finance Department and City Attorney to ensure that the lease and subsequent agreement with Moss Bros. are legally sufficient. FINANCIAL IMPACT: While the City is the lessee of the vehicle, there is no financial impact to the City for vehicle acquisition. Payments on the vehicle lease will be funded by Moss Bros. Ford. The lease will be to the Ford Motor Company, in the amount of $ 25,235.65. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: None
