Item #3 <br />1 ORDINANCE NO. 0-02-04 <br />2 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COLTON AMENDING <br />3 CHAPTER 7.08 OF THE COLTON MUNICIPAL CODE TO <br />ALLOW ANIMAL -RELATED FEES TO BE SET BY <br />4 RESOLUTION <br />5 <br />WHEREAS, various provisions of Chapter 7.08 of the Colton Municipal Code <br />6 <br />establish specific fees for various purposes connected with dogs, including license fees, <br />8 impoundment fees, disposal fees, and fees for the apprehension of dogs escaped from <br />9 their owners; and <br />10 <br />WHEREAS, these fees were set in 1968 and have never been adjusted to <br />11 <br />12 reflect the City's increasing costs for providing these services, such that the revenue <br />13 received by the City through the fees represents a small fraction of the City's actual costs; <br />14 and <br />15 WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the fees charged for these animal - <br />16 <br />related services should properly reflect the City's actual costs in providing these services, <br />17 <br />18 and the most effective means of recovering such actual costs is to allow these fees to be <br />19 set by resolution. <br />20 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON <br />21 DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />22 SECTION 1: Section 7.08.020 of the Colton Municipal Code is hereby deleted <br />23 in its entirety and amended to read as follows: <br />24 "The finance director upon receipt of such application and the license <br />fee as set out in Section 7.08.010 shall issue and deliver to such owner or <br />25 possessor of a license, a receipt certifying the payment of the license fee and <br />26 setting forth the name and address of the applicant and a brief description of <br />the dog, together with the fact that it has been vaccinated as provided herein <br />27 and stating the number allotted to such dog, and he shall deliver or cause to <br />be delivered to the applicant a metallic tag which shall set forth the year of <br />28 the license and the number allotted to the dog, which tag shall at all times be <br />affixed to the collar, covering, harness or other article worn by such dog. <br />1 <br />
