Item #3 1 ORDINANCE NO. 0-02-04 2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COLTON AMENDING 3 CHAPTER 7.08 OF THE COLTON MUNICIPAL CODE TO ALLOW ANIMAL -RELATED FEES TO BE SET BY 4 RESOLUTION 5 WHEREAS, various provisions of Chapter 7.08 of the Colton Municipal Code 6 establish specific fees for various purposes connected with dogs, including license fees, 8 impoundment fees, disposal fees, and fees for the apprehension of dogs escaped from 9 their owners; and 10 WHEREAS, these fees were set in 1968 and have never been adjusted to 11 12 reflect the City's increasing costs for providing these services, such that the revenue 13 received by the City through the fees represents a small fraction of the City's actual costs; 14 and 15 WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the fees charged for these animal - 16 related services should properly reflect the City's actual costs in providing these services, 17 18 and the most effective means of recovering such actual costs is to allow these fees to be 19 set by resolution. 20 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON 21 DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: 22 SECTION 1: Section 7.08.020 of the Colton Municipal Code is hereby deleted 23 in its entirety and amended to read as follows: 24 "The finance director upon receipt of such application and the license fee as set out in Section 7.08.010 shall issue and deliver to such owner or 25 possessor of a license, a receipt certifying the payment of the license fee and 26 setting forth the name and address of the applicant and a brief description of the dog, together with the fact that it has been vaccinated as provided herein 27 and stating the number allotted to such dog, and he shall deliver or cause to be delivered to the applicant a metallic tag which shall set forth the year of 28 the license and the number allotted to the dog, which tag shall at all times be affixed to the collar, covering, harness or other article worn by such dog. 1
