Item #19 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF JUNE 7, 2005 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER <br />SUBJECT: APPROVE THE AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR <br />ENGINEERING/DESIGN SERVICES OF WASHINGTON-RECHE <br />CANYON -HUNTS LANE INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT <br />PROJECT TO FRACO ENTERPRISES IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />$87,643 AND APPROVE RESOLUTION INCREASING THE FY <br />2005/2006 CIP BUDGET. <br />DATE: MAY 31, 2005 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Washington-Reche Canyon -Hunts Lane Intersection Improvement Project is a CMAQ <br />(Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality) funded project administered thru Caltrans. The scope of <br />work includes modifying the existing geometry of Washington-Reche Canyon intersection for <br />exclusive northbound left and right turn movement. It also includes street widening within the road <br />right of way for additional eastbound lane and modifications of existing traffic signal on <br />Washington-Reche Canyon intersection. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />On May 2, 2005, Public Services/Engineering Section issued an RFP (Request for Proposals) to the <br />following consultants for PS&E (Plan, Specifications, and Estimate) of this project with <br />corresponding cost proposal: <br />1.) Fraco Enterprises, Inc. (Grand Terrace, CA) $ 87,643 <br />2.) LIN Consulting, Inc. (Diamond Bar, CA) did not respond <br />3.) FPL and Associates, Inc (h -vine, CA) did not respond <br />Fraco Enterprises, Inc. is the only firm that responded to the RFP. Upon review of their written <br />proposal, Fraco Enterprises, Inc. had shown a thorough understanding of the project and they have <br />the needed qualification to perform the tasks needed for this project. <br />
