1 2 3 4 5. 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 23 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 e 32 RESOLUTION NO., 3625 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF COLTON, CALIFORNIA, ORDERING, CALLING, PROVIDING FOR AND GIVING NOTICE OF A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY 'ON NOVEMBER 2, 1976, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF SAID CITY AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO AMENDING THE CITY OF COLTON'S EMPLOYEESRETIREMENT PLAN AND CONSOLIDATING SAID ELECTION WITH THE STATE- WIDE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON SAID DATE. WHEREAS, the legislative body of the City of Colton desires to submit to the qualified voters of said City, a proposed Ordinance relating to amending the City of Colton's Employees Retirement Pian; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Colton is thereupon authorized and directed by statute to submit the Ordinance to the qualified voters; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Colton, California, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE,! DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER as follows: SECTION 1. That a special election be held and the same is hereby called to be held inlsaid City on November 2, 1976, for the purpose of sub- mitting to the qualified voters,of said City an Ordinance hereinafter set forth relating to amending the City of�Colton's Employees Retirement Plan. as follows: SECTION. The proposed ordinance submitted to the voters shall be Shall the City of Colton's Employees Retirement Plan, originally adopted in 1945, be modified effective July 1, '977; to provide improved retirement benefits to Colto Police Safety Employees, herein referred to as Local Safety Members, on the basis of discretionary retirement at age 50, with the local safety member re- ceiving a retirement of Two Percent (2%) of°their final compensation for each year of service (no to exceed Seventy -hive Percent (75%) of final compensation) with compulsory retirement at age 60 (see California Govern- ment Code Section 21252.01); to provide a widow's al- lowance of One-half (1/2) of the local safety member's retirement benefits on his death (see California Government Code Sections 21263 and 21263.1); to pro- vide retirement based on the average of one highest year compensation instead of three highest years (see California Government Code Section 20024.2);, and to provide credit'for prior military service (see Cali- fornia Government Code Section 20930.3); and the levy of only such property taxes as will be necessary to pay the City's 'share of said benefits, be adopted? SECTION 3. That the polls for said election shall be opened at seven o'clock A. M. of the day of said election and shall remain.open continu- ously from said time until eight o'clock P.
