CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting oQctober 22 ,1991
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: Leslie Keane Stratton, City Manager
SUBJECT:
Date: 10/15/91
Resolution Authorizing Reprogramming Of
Community Development Block Grant Contingency/
Reserve Funds To Colton Museum Project
The Colton Museum building renovations are substantially complete after
seven years of combined efforts by many agencies, community groups and
the Museum Association. There remains some outstanding items of repair
or replacement related to code compliance and historical preservation in
order to complete the renovation work for the Certificate of Occupancy.
A copy of the list of remaining work items is attached. All funding
sources for this work have been exhausted and the remaining work is
estimated to cost a total of $20,000 in labor and materials. There is
currently approximately $58,000 in the Community Development Block Grant
("CDBG") contingency/reserve fund.
DISCUSSION:
All of the remaining work can be done with City forces, and materials can
be purchased through the City's Purchasing Agent. All of the remaining
work can and must be completed prior to December 1, 1991 to facilitate
the planned grand opening to the public on December 15, 1991. All of the
remaining work appears to be eligible for CDBG funding as it is either
code required, historical preservation, or community beneficial use.
City Maintenance and Electrical Departments have reviewed the work and
determined it to be within their abilities to provide the labor and
assist in the purchasing.
The terms of the lease between the City of Colton and the Museum
Association require and obligate the City to provide a building "fit for
occupancy", which means all code requirements have been met.
Reprogramming these funds will provide the means to complete this long
awaited project in a timely manner.
Attachments:
Page 1 of_ 2 —
Item No.
REO'D;`
