The legislation <br />(PL 100-690) covers all organizations receiving contract awards of $25,000 or more, all contracts awarded to <br />individuals, and all recipients of federal grants, regardless of grant size. The Act's requirements apply to <br />federal contracts and grants awarded on or after March 18, 1989. Councilmember Bennett has brought to <br />Council's attention that to date, a policy on a drug-free workplace has not been adopted. <br />Staff proposes that Council ratify the policy statement on Drug -Free Workplace. Attached is the memo which <br />will be distributed to all City employees of the City's policy and their obligation pursuant to the Drug -Free <br />Workplace Act. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends that Council ratify the attached policy on drug-free workplace to be in compliance with the <br />Drug -Free Workplace Act of 1988. <br />f <br />Concur _ <br />City Manager <br />Attachment <br />GH/as <br />WP51TILMAGENDRUG <br />
