ADJOURNED CITY COUNCIL MEETING
APRIL 17, 1990
In accordance with notice duly and legally given, an Adjourned Regular
Meeting of the City Council of the City of Colton was held on the above
given date at 6:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers of City Hall, Mayor
Gonzales presiding.
ROLL CALL
Council Members present were Rios, Cisneros, Rehrer, Lofy, and Mayor
Gonzales. Also present were City Manager Young, City Attorney Edwards,
and City Clerk Ramos.
CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS:
Hutton/Luque Centers Restoration/Expansion Projects
David Taylor, Project Administrator, gave a status report on the pro-
posed relocation of the Senior Citizen Nutrition Program during the
Hutton and Luque Centers expansion project.
Mr. Taylor advised if the senior citizens were to remain at the Centers
during the onsite renovation and construction work, the contractor's
insurance policy will be cancelled. Also, the contractor has estimated
the affected work could cost 20% to 30% more, or an additional $70,000
to $110,000. Mr. Taylor said there are also the liability and safety
factors to consider.
Mr. Ray Gonzales, Recreation Services Manager, reported there are three
sites that the Nutrition Program can be moved to temporarily, until
the work at the Centers is complete. Mr. Gonzales advised the Program
at the Luque Center can be moved directly across the street, at the
Housing Authority, with no rental fee charge, and the Hutton Center
could be moved to either Immaculate Conception Church or the First
Baptist Church, with a rental fee of $250 per week. Mr. Gonzales
stated it was felt the location of the First Baptist Church would be
better, due to its proximity with Fleming Park and the Farmers Market
that is held each Monday.
Mr. Gonzales concluded at any rate, there have been no agreements
signed at this point for either site.
Discussion then followed among Council Members and Staff with regard
to proposed Change Orders for painting 'and recarpeting of the interiors
to match the additions, reroofing of the existing buildings, lowering
the ceilings at both centers, new light fixtures, new design and in-
stallation of heating and air conditioning equipment., etc.
1 W,l_7
1,
