HUTTON, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR lll�1JJJ <br />SUBJECT: SET FOR PUBLIC HEARING AUGUST 15, 2000, THE REPLACEMENT <br />ORDINANCE FOR ORDINACE 0-18-87 AND ITS AMENDED ORDINANCE <br />0-01-92 WITH NEWLY ADOPTED, F.E.M.A. RECOMMENDED, FLOODPLAIN <br />MANAGEMENT ORDINANCE <br />DATE: JULY 24, 2000 <br />BACKGROUND: As a pre -requisite for the City's membership in the National Flood Insurance <br />Program (NFIP), the City must replace its current Ordinance regarding flood insurance, which <br />meets the Federal requirements as stated in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 44, Section <br />60.3 with a newly updated version provided by F.E.M.A. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: In July 2000, the California Department of Water Resources <br />conducted a community assistance review. Staff was informed that the City's current Ordinance <br />needed to be updated to the current flood insurance program guidelines. The Water Resources <br />staff provided City staff with the sample attached recommended Ordinance. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None <br />Join Q. Hutton, -Public Works Director <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: None. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council set August 15, 2000, for the <br />Public Hearing process to consider Ordinance adopting updated Regulations consistent <br />with the Rules Governing the National Flood Insurance Program. <br />Attachments: California Model Floodplain Management Ordinance provided by California Water Resources Control <br />Board. <br />Item #10 <br />
