CLARKE, UTILITY DIRECTOR,,: <br />SUBJECT: AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR PROFESSIONAL MECHANICAL ENGINEERING <br />SERVICES FOR THE CITY HALL HVAC SYSTEM RENOVATION PROJECT <br />TO LEONARD ENGINEERING IN THE AMOUNT OF $20,988. <br />DATE: JUNE 12, 2000 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The HVAC system at City hall is in need of major renovation work. Due to some units being under -sized, many <br />areas are not being sufficiently cooled. To correct the situation, the Utility department engaged Leonard <br />Engineering to design a new HVAC system and to provide specifications and drawings for use in the bidding <br />procedure. The Utility Department has issued a Notice Inviting Bids for the City Hall HVAC System Renovation, <br />Phase 1, Mechanical Construction, and bid opening is scheduled for July 6, 2000. <br />DISC USSION/ANALYS IS, <br />As the design engineer on this project, the Utility department requested and received a proposal from Leonard <br />Engineering to provide professional mechanical engineering services for Phase I of the HVAC Renovation Project, <br />in the amount of $20, 988. A copy of Leonard Engineering's proposal is attached. <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />None. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT� <br />The Utility Department has funds available in FY 99/00 budget Account Number 520-8000-8005-2350-0923-000. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION� <br />Staff recommends award of contract for Professional Mechanical Engineering Services to Leonard Engineering in <br />the amount of $20,988. <br />Report Prepared by: Rebecca Gallegos, Purchasing Assistant <br />Page I of 1 (with attachment) Item #11 <br />
