Also present were City Manager Martinez, City
Attorney Biggs and City Clerk Freeman.
COLTON PLANNING COMMISSION:
Present were Chairperson Ramon Hernandez, Commissioner Richard
Prieto, Commissioner Susan Oliva, Commissioner Jim Ott and
Commissioner Archuleta. Absent was Commissioner John Gomez.
JOINT SESSION
Goals and Objectives
Chairman Hernandez declared that the Planning Commission's request
for a joint meeting was for the purpose of setting goals and
objectives --to establish a vision. He pointed to the fact that the
Commission was comprised of a number of new commissioners who were
eager to know their role and function.
Chairman Hernandez indicated there was a need for the creation of
an ad hoc committee to study the sign ordinance as well as the
question on the ideal size of a residential lot, the parking
ordinance and the project review process, specifically, an internal
timetable.
Chair Hernandez commented that the general plan was good. He noted
there were several specific plans which were sound and were
supported by good ordinances. He explained that the Planning
Commission felt frustration on what was perceived to be a continual
pressure to deviate from City policy and rule.
On the cottage development, Commissioner Prieto said that
developers posed questions on lot sizes and Mr Prieto said he
supported the requirement for standard -size lots. On commercial
property, he believed the City should not waive fees as it needed
the revenue.
MNY 141996
