ADJOURNED REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING <br />OCTOBER 1, 1 996 <br />In accordance with notice duly and legally given, an Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City <br />Council of the City of Colton was held on the above given date at 6:00 P.M., in the Council <br />Chambers of City Hall, Mayor Fulp presiding. <br />FLAG SALUTE: <br />Mayor Fulp led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />INVOCATION: <br />Chaplain Ed List offered the invocation. <br />ROLL CALL: <br />Councilmembers present were Hutton, Bennett, Cook, Sanders, Beltran, and Mayor Fulp. <br />Also present were City Attorney Biggs, City Manager Freeman, and Interim City Clerk <br />Delgado. Mayor Pulp stated that Councilmember Hansen was absent as he was out of town. <br />MAYOR ANE? COUNCIL ITEMS: <br />Presentations, Awards, Proclamations <br />Mayor Fulp introduced the School Superintendent for the Colton School District, Dr. Herbert <br />Fischer who spoke on the state of the Colton School District. <br />Dr. Fischer thanked the Colton Police Department in the administration of the following: <br />School Crossing Guard Program, School Resource Officer Program, and for conducting the <br />City-wide Truancy sweep. He provided the following statistics: College -bound student rate <br />has increased from 16% in .1992 to 51 % in 1995; 20 out of 27 schools are hooked to the <br />Internet; two schools, Grant and Lincoln, are now using uniforms which has been received <br />with positive reaction; and the implementation of the reduction in class size 20 students to <br />1 teacher on the first grade level. Next year, this plan will be implemented in the Second <br />grade level. fie reported on the following future projects: looking for 40 acres to build a third <br />high school; 7 acres are located by the new County Hospital and hoping to develop and <br />move the administration center to this location and free up the current center for use by the <br />Colton Middle School. The dedication of the Mike De Arcy School is scheduled for October <br />17, 1996 and invitations will be sent to the all the Councilmembers. <br />DCT 1 11991S <br />
