Rogers Elementary <br />Date: March 31, 1997 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />City Council authorized staff to advertise for public bid, the acquisition and installation <br />of a 2,500 square foot modular unit for the Child Care program. As you may recall this <br />unit is financed by way of the Community Development Block Grant Program. March 13, <br />1997 was the deadline for opening said bids. No bids were received by this deadline <br />date, so the bid deadline was extended until March 20, 1997. On March 20, 1997, a <br />total of one (1) bid was received and opened. The sole bidder was Mobile Modular <br />Management Corporation, in the amount of $112,012.50. This is the firm that <br />constructed the Cooley Ranch Child Care Unit. Staff has found the units constructed by <br />Mobile Modular to either meet or exceed specifications. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Since only one (1) bid was received, City staff initiated a meeting with the staff of San <br />Bernardino County Economic and Community Development Department. The following <br />was concluded by the County personnel: <br />• According to their engineers, the bid submitted was reasonable <br />• The City has complied with all legal bidding requirements, and is <br />authorized to award a contract to Mobile Modular Corporation <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />This project is funded in its entirety by the Community Development Block Grant <br />Program. The project was allocated a total of $136,000. All remaining allocated funds <br />will be utilized for the installation of site work and utilities for the modular unit.
