CITY OF COLTON
Interoffice Memorandum
ITO: Honorable Mayor and Council Members
FROM: Daryl J. Parrish, Assistant City Manager IF
APPROVAL: Henry T. Garcia, City Manage
SUBJECT: Letter Received from Resident of CFD 89-1
DATE: July 7, 1998
Today, we received a letter from the "residents of CFD 89-1" regarding the Cooley
Ranch Park. The focus of the letter was on two primary issues, specifically, the poor
performance of the landscape maintenance contractor presently maintaining the Park,
and a request for the City of Colton to install additional improvements.
The following are our recommendations:
Regarding the landscape maintenance issues, the Director of Public Works has been
working with the landscape contractor to improve their performance in the area. The
present contract expires in the fall of this year and it is our intention to go out for bid
prior to the expiration of the current contract. We do suggest that the Public Works
Director walk through the area with the Contractor and point out those areas in need of
immediate care.
Regarding the requests for improvements, we recommend the request be forwarded to
the Recreation and Parks Commission for discussion. In the meantime, staff can
analyze the fiscal impact of the request and present the results to the commission. We
will forward this request to the Recreation and Parks commission for discussion at its
meeting scheduled for August 19, 1998.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at extension 5071.
Attachment
cc: John Hutton, Public Works Director
Dennis Morris, Neighborhood Services Director
Ar
