CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF JUNE 169 1998 TO: Honorable Mayor & City Co ncil APPROVAL: Henry Garcia, City Manage FROM: Dennis Morris, Human Resource Director, SUBJECT: Request for recruitment and ratification of employee appointment to the part-time position of Senior Lifeguard (4) and Lifeguard (5) in the Human/Neighborhood Services Department DATE: June 3,1998 BACKGROUND: There presently exists six (5) vacant part-time, seasonal Lifeguard positions, and six (4) vacant part- time seasonal Senior Lifeguard positions in the Human/Neighborhood Services Department. Attached are the job descriptions for the classifications; the salary is $6.25 per hour for Lifeguard and $10 Senior Lifeguard. DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: Recruitment for said positions were conducted prior to the Council meeting to expedite the process, to ensure that the pool opens at the end of June. The candidates chosen will meet the education and experience requirements as specified in the job description. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Not applicable. CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT: Without 12 Lifeguards the pool will not open and could cause hardship to the working parents of the City who plan supervised summer activities for their children. RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council approves the recruitment's and ratification's of the employee appointments to the part-time position of Lifeguard and Senior Lifeguard as recommended by the Human Resource Director.
