Item #13 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF APRIL 2, 2002 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, CITY ENGINEER <br />SUBJECT: RECOMMENDATION FOR AWARD OF A PROFESSIONAL <br />SERVICES ENGINEERING DESIGN CONTRACT TO THE FIRM OF <br />INFRASTRUCTURE CONSULTANTS, INC., IN THE CDBG <br />STREET IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS #10423205, #104-24105, #104- <br />25205, #104-26105, AND #104-27105 NOT TO EXCEED $84,900.00. <br />DATE: MARCH 25, 2002 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Currently the City has funding allocations and ECD (Economic and Community Development) <br />approval for five (5) CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) Projects: <br />• #104-23205 - Alley Improvements between C Street, D Street and E Street <br />• #104-24105 - Alley Improvements between 131h Street and Mount Vernon <br />• #104-25205 - Street Improvements: Walters, Monroe, Vermont, Fur, Penn & Miller <br />• #104-26105 - Street Improvements: Shasta, Scenic, Virginia, Florence, Western, Kansas, <br />Illinois, & Iowa <br />• #104-27105 - Street Improvements: 31' Street to 7'h Street and K Street to N Street <br />By combining the five (5) CDBG Projects into a single Design RFP, the City will save money. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION : <br />On March 7, 2002, the Engineering Department sent out eight (8) Requests for Proposals to secure <br />consulting engineer services for the CDBG Street Improvement Project; two (2) Proposals were <br />received. <br />Staff has reviewed the Proposals, and the firm of InfraStructure Consultants, Inc., located in Lake <br />Forest, California was selected based upon their credentials, references, and the scope of services <br />included in their technical proposal. The Contract for the professional engineering, surveying and <br />design services is not to exceed $84,900.00. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />There is no impact caused by the design, engineering, or surveying done in preparation for the <br />
