SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING <br />July 21 1991 <br />A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Colton was held <br />on the above given date in the Council Chambers of City Hall, located <br />at 650 North La Cadena Drive, Colton, California, at 7:00 p. m., <br />Mayor Gonzales presiding. <br />Notice of Special Meeting was given on June 28, 1991, in compliance <br />with Government Code Section 54956. <br />ROLL CALL: <br />Council Members present were Roman, Cisneros, Rehrer, Lofy, and Mayor <br />Gonzales. Also present were City Manager Stratton, City Attorney <br />Edwards, and Deputy City Clerk Veralrud. <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL ITEMS: <br />Hospital <br />Mr. Harry Mays, Administrative Officer with the County of San Bernardino, <br />made a presentation to the City Council regarding the proposed County <br />Hospital and site. <br />Mr. Mays advised the new facility will contain all of the current major <br />operations and centers now being conducted at the existing hospital, <br />with the possible exception of the mental health center. <br />Mr. Mays continued the site consists of approximately 70 acres of land <br />located at the northeast corner of Pepper Avenue and Valley Boulevard. <br />The medical center complex, a five to six story bed tower structure, will <br />contain 850,000 square feet, with a three to four story support clinic <br />and diagnostic building. The landscaping will consist of approximately <br />430,000 square feet, with a park -like atmosphere, section and street <br />tree planting, and open visibility. <br />Mr. Mays stated the off-site construction work, for 1993-94, will cost <br />approximately $10 Million, and the construction, from 1994-98, will <br />cost $306 Million. Mr. Mays said they anticipate the salaries and <br />supplies for the 1991-92 fiscal year to be $108.7 Million, with 21000 <br />employees at an average salary of $40,640. per year, 205 full-time <br />physicians, 300 privileged physicians, and a patient/visitor count of <br />approximately 350,000 to 580,000 people per year. <br />Mr. Mays stated an EIR has been prepared and distributed, and the County <br />is willing to pay their share for needed services and utilities.
