In accordance with <br />Meeting of the City <br />given date at 4000 <br />Gonzales presiding. <br />ROLL CALL <br />ADJOURNED CITE' COUNCIL MEETING <br />AUGUST 10, 1993 <br />notice duly and legally given, an <br />Council. of the City of Colton. was <br />R. M., in the Council Chambers of <br />Adjourned Regular <br />hold on the above <br />City Hall, Mayor <br />Councilmembers present were Bennett, Sandoval, Rios, Cisneros, Beltran, <br />Cook and Mayor Gonzales. Also present were City Attorney Biggs, City <br />Manager Young and City Clerk Ramos. <br />CITY MANAGER** <br />Mayor Gonzales read Resolution Pio. R-60-93, appointing the law firm of <br />Brunick, Alvarez & Battersby as general counsel to the City and <br />specifically, Julie Hayward Biggs as City Attorney. Attorney Biggs is <br />authorized to act as General Agency Counsel for the Agency to serve at <br />the pleasure of the City Council and the Agency. Compensation for legal <br />services provided by Attorney Biggs shall be set at a salary level. of <br />$95,000 annually with all standard benefits allowed by the. City under <br />the current Council resolution granting benefits to executive employees; <br />compensation for the legal services of the law firer of Brunick, Alvarez <br />& Battersby shall be paid at the rate of $195.00 per hour. The City may <br />terminate the services of Attorney Biggs at any time subject to 30 days <br />notice. <br />Moved by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Bennett, to <br />approve Resolution No. R-60--93, unanimous vote. <br />Councilmember Beltran asked if the City had a contract with Attorney <br />Biggs, Mayor Gonzales responded "no", the terms are as set out in the <br />resolution. There is a letter agreement with Brunick, Alvarez & <br />Battersby as the City's general legal counsel. <br />Councilmember Rios, stated his dissatisfaction with cancelling scheduled. <br />Council Meetings because one member cannot be present. All Council <br />Members have committed to serve on this City Council and arrange their <br />schedules to .be here, these meetings are priority. If a person can't be <br />present, the Council. should proceed and move forward. <br />Mayer Gonzales stated he was responsible for changing the meeting date. <br />Under normal circumstances if a member is absent, the Council moves <br />forward and holds the meeting; however, not during Budget Sessions.
