In accordance with Meeting of the City given date at 4000 Gonzales presiding. ROLL CALL ADJOURNED CITE' COUNCIL MEETING AUGUST 10, 1993 notice duly and legally given, an Council. of the City of Colton. was R. M., in the Council Chambers of Adjourned Regular hold on the above City Hall, Mayor Councilmembers present were Bennett, Sandoval, Rios, Cisneros, Beltran, Cook and Mayor Gonzales. Also present were City Attorney Biggs, City Manager Young and City Clerk Ramos. CITY MANAGER** Mayor Gonzales read Resolution Pio. R-60-93, appointing the law firm of Brunick, Alvarez & Battersby as general counsel to the City and specifically, Julie Hayward Biggs as City Attorney. Attorney Biggs is authorized to act as General Agency Counsel for the Agency to serve at the pleasure of the City Council and the Agency. Compensation for legal services provided by Attorney Biggs shall be set at a salary level. of $95,000 annually with all standard benefits allowed by the. City under the current Council resolution granting benefits to executive employees; compensation for the legal services of the law firer of Brunick, Alvarez & Battersby shall be paid at the rate of $195.00 per hour. The City may terminate the services of Attorney Biggs at any time subject to 30 days notice. Moved by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Bennett, to approve Resolution No. R-60--93, unanimous vote. Councilmember Beltran asked if the City had a contract with Attorney Biggs, Mayor Gonzales responded "no", the terms are as set out in the resolution. There is a letter agreement with Brunick, Alvarez & Battersby as the City's general legal counsel. Councilmember Rios, stated his dissatisfaction with cancelling scheduled. Council Meetings because one member cannot be present. All Council Members have committed to serve on this City Council and arrange their schedules to .be here, these meetings are priority. If a person can't be present, the Council. should proceed and move forward. Mayer Gonzales stated he was responsible for changing the meeting date. Under normal circumstances if a member is absent, the Council moves forward and holds the meeting; however, not during Budget Sessions. It AVU A ;2 'Q0
