<br />The City Council of the City of Colton does ordain as follows.-
<br />10 Section 1. Whenever in this ordinance the words or phrases
<br />11 hereinafter in this section defined are used, they shall have the
<br />12 respective meanings assigned to them in the following definitions
<br />13 (unless, in the given instance, the context wherein they are used
<br />14 shall clearly import a different meaning):
<br />151� (a) The word "grantee" shall mean the corporation to
<br />16! which the franchise contemplated in this ordinance is
<br />17 granted and its lawful successors or assigns;
<br />18 (b) The word "City shall mean the City of Colton.. a
<br />19 municipal corporation of the State of California, in its
<br />20 present incorporated form or in any later reorganized, con-
<br />211solidated., enlarged or re -incorporated form;
<br />22 (c) The word "streets" shall mean the public streets, ways..
<br />23 lleys and places as the same now or may hereafter exist
<br />24 within said City;
<br />251 (d) The phrase "poles, wires, conduits and appurtenances"
<br />26 hall mean poles, towers, supports, wires, conductors, cables,
<br />27'o-uys., stubs,, platforms, crossarmsp braces, transformers, insulators,
<br />28 Donduits., ducts, vaults, manholes, meters, cut-outs, switCh0s,
<br />29 oommunication circuits, appliances, attachments, appurtenances
<br />30 and any other property located or to be located in, upon, alua6s
<br />311across., under or over the streets of the City, and used or useful
<br />72�1jn the transmitting and/or distributing of electricity;
<br />27 1b equivalent to two per cent of the gross annual receipts
<br />28 of said grantee arising f m the use, operation or possession of
