Ir
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting of December 121, 1990
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: John C. Hutton, Director of Public Works
SUBJECT: Approval of Emergency Repairs to Well #17 in the Date: December 11, 1990
Amount of $18,054.65
BACKGROUND:
Well #17 is the City's largest producing well for the west portion of Colton. The
well is located west of Citrus Ave. and feeds the Domecq Reservoir.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:
For the past year the well had been making noise, but due to the hot weather, the
well could not be shut down for repairs. The citizens who lived near the well were
complaining about the noise and the well was taken out of service on November 26.
Tri County, a well repair contractor, inspected the well and it was determined that
the well shaft, bowls and several other items had been damaged beyond repair. The
quote for inspecting the well was $1,600 and the quote for the needed repairs is
$16,454.65 for a total cost of $18,054.65 to repair Well #17.
This well supplies water to the west end of town and is needed to be placed back
into service to prevent any water shortage to our customers.
ALTERNATIVES:
None, this is an urgency matter that must be authorized for repairs now.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
None, well repairs are part of the operations and maintenance budget.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
None, pending authorization to proceed with repairs by Council.
REOQvMFNDAT ION :
Staff recommends that Council approve the emergency repairs to Well #17 in the amount
of $18,054.65.
Page 1 of
' • illlllf/
ORIGINAL Item No.
RECORDS
LE N10. _ I as 011.3 .............,.m
2
