V
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting of February 5, 1991
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: John C. Hutton, Director of Public Works
SUBJECT: Approval of Contract Amendment with CMI for Date: January 30, 1991
Sewer Plant Maintenance and Operations
The City just recently completed a 20% increase in its capacity at the sewer treatment
plant to meet the immediate needs of new growth in the com unity (from 5.4 MG to 6.5
MG).
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:
Operations Management International, a division of CH2M Hill, the City's contractor
for maintenance and operations, have submitted a contract amendment to cover the
additional maintenance necessary to the expanded operations.
The original contract with CMI made provisions for expanded coverage of the plant
taking into consideration that the City was planning to expand the treatment plant
to meet the new development growth. Staff, along with the assistance of Krieger and
Stewart, reviewed the amendment throughly and its provisions to insure that it complied
with the provisions of the original contract for services and found that the amendment
complied with all of the guidelines of the original contract.
As Council is aware, the additional 1 MG capacity at the treatment plant was an
emergency expansion measure due to 1) the former plant capacity was at its limits
and 2) in order to meet the then current growth needs it was imperative to expand
the treatment plant by at least 1 MG of additional capacity. It was reported at that
time that the treatment plant design capacity was 10 MG to meet the planned buildout
of Colton per the City's General Plan, thus the treatment plant would be under going
expansion phases as long as growth continued.
Attachments:
Page 1 of
G-RiGI AL ,7
Item No.
CE!NTR L RECORDS
. . ?
