Vernon/Colton Corridor <br />PAr,v(,Pn INn <br />On September 3, 1991 Council instructed staff to obtain a traffic study for the <br />Mt. Vernon/Colton Corridor in response to a citizen's petition for better traffic <br />control. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />JF Davidson, through GTS and Associates, were contracted to perform the traffic <br />study. The traffic study has been completed and reviewed by the City's Traffic <br />Committee. The Traffic Committee approved most of the recommendations made by <br />JF Davidson and also added recommendations. The minutes to the Traffic Committee <br />meeting and the traffic study from JF Davidson are attached. The recommendations <br />are as follows: <br />1. 9th Street and "D" Street -- JF Davidson recommendations: <br />Paint red curb from "D" Street north to alley. Replace <br />existing pedestrian crossing sign with one that reads <br />"Pedestrian Crossing Without Crossing Striping". <br />Attachments: 2 <br />Page 1 of—_2 <br />Traffic Committee recommendations: Crosswalks to be <br />painted with 24" bars instead of "Zebra Cross Hatching". <br />9th Street and "E" Street -- JF Davidson recommendations: <br />This was not a part of the traffic study. <br />Traffic Committee recommendations: Remove four-way stop <br />at 9th and "F" Streets and relocate at 9th and "E" Streets. <br />Install a dip sign on 9th Street at "F" Street in both <br />direction. This recorm2ndation will give the Police, Fire <br />and motorists better vision of oncoming traffic.
