CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For Council Meeting of March 17, 1992 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: John C. Hutton, Director of Public Works A, - <br />SUBJECT: <br />Informational Item on the Solid Waste Task Force Date: March 9, 1992 <br />Reconfirming the City's Commitment in the Cooperative <br />Agreement in Achieving Reduction Goals <br />F. 0 :S0. r► e <br />In 1989 the City of Colton approved its participation in cooperating with other <br />local jurisdictions and San Bernardino County in achieving the goals of AB939. <br />Since AB939 impacts are both regional and local concerns of source reduction and <br />recycling must be a cooperative effort in the implementation of an aggressive <br />integrated waste management program. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />On January 16, 1992 the Solid Waste Advisory Task Force, which the City of Colton <br />is a member, approved Resolution 92-001 to encourage a cooperative relationship <br />between all San Bernardino County local jurisdictions toward meeting the goals <br />set forth by AB939. <br />The City of Colton has actively participated as a cooperative member some other <br />local jurisdictions (also members) have ventured out upon their own in <br />participation with others proposing to construct facilities and/or initiate <br />individual programs not in response to regional needs. <br />RECCNMIENDATION : <br />Staff recommends that Council reconfirm its commitment to continue participation <br />in a cooperation effort with the County of San Bernardino Solid Waste Advisory <br />Task Force (minute action approval only). <br />JCH/lj <br />CITY M4NAGER'S CONCURRENCE: <br />Attachments: 1 <br />Page 1 of — <br />Item No. <br />#;Eli AL �.i L,�3iCf;� <br />FILE NO. <br />
