46
City Yards -Community Services
Mr. Huffaker reported that $7,500 for fencing under Capital Improvements has been allowed to ini-
tiate the development of the new City yard complex proposed for the future and that $10,000 is
budgeted for the design work.
On Council consensus the City Yards -Community Services Budget was approved.
Automotive Shops -Community Services
Mr. Huffaker stated that this budget has been increased to provide for the addition of an employee
to do preventive maintenance of the equipment during hours when it is not in use. Basically, Mr.
Huffaker stated, this is going into two shifts, a day and swing shift.
Mr. Huffaker stated that the added position, Equipment Serviceman, will provide for the gasing
of vehicles, changing of tires or whatever needs to be done to the equipment to be accomplished
at night, so that in the mornings when the crews report for work they can go directly to the job
site without stopping to service their vehicles.
Discussion followed on pay differential with Staff indicating that this should not create a problem
as the working hours involved would be made a part and condition of the position, in like fashion
as safety personnel.
On Council consensus the Automotive Shops -Community Services Budget was approved.
Closing -City Manager
Mr. Huffaker said that another meeting date would be necessary in order for the Council to finish
up review of the proposed budget and to reconsider the Chamber of Commerce request.
Paving Projects
Mr. Earl Young stated that he and Mr. Schnore had worked up a Five Year Paving Schedule and that
he would like to pass this out to the Council and receive their comments on.the projects proposed.
Mr. Young stated that the first items under 1973-74 are ones that are being accomplished now and
will probably be completed by the first of August.
Pos it ion Changes
City Manager Huffaker reported that there have been several position changes and that it would be in
order for Council to set aside one meeting night to review this item.
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business to come before the Council at this time, Mayor Huntoon adjourned
the meeting at 10:25 p. m.
Approved this day of , 1974.
Mayor
COUNCIL MEETING
June 185, 1974
HELEN A.
